Improvised fun kicks off!

Stage Left Theatre Troupe is proud to be hosting some crazy, zany, spontaneous fun – which is about to be unleashed on Kalgoorlie-Boulder!

If you’ve ever watched TV’s Whose line is it anyway? and laughed yourself silly but wondered “how do they do that?” … or if you have wanted to get up on stage and play theatresports, but have been too nervous to try, now you can learn some of the tricks of the trade – handed down over time, from some of the nation’s experts in the field.

WOWKAL has launched IMPROKAL – improvisation and on-the-spot games and theatre fun. You don’t need any previous experience, just a sense of fun and imagination.

WOWKAL duo and Stage Left co-founders Lisa van Oyen and Kevin Blair are offering a six-week training workshop for adults in July and August, kicking off on Sunday July 11.

De-Coding Shakespeare

If you’ve ever been intrigued by the great writer William Shakespeare and his vast array of published works, never understood it but always wanted to; or have a driving passion already for the Bard’s way with words… then “De-coding Shakespeare” is for you!

“De-coding Shakespeare” is an informal interest group which meets Monday nights fortnightly to bust a myth or two about William.

Who was he?
William Shakespeare was an English poet and playwright, widely regarded as the greatest writer in the English language and the world’s pre-eminent dramatist. He is often called England’s national poet and the “Bard of Avon”. His surviving works, including some collaborations, consist of 38 plays, (possibly 39 now, according to the news this month!!!), 154 sonnets, two long narrative poems, and several other poems. His plays have been translated into every major living language and are performed more often than those of any other playwright.

Kevin Blair and Lisa van Oyen from Stage Left Theatre Troupe are brimming with ideas, enthusiasm and excitement after having completed training at NIDA studying Shakespeare – and now they want to share that with others.

Come along to our next session on Monday night April 12th, to the Stage Left Barracks, 61b Burt Street Boulder, arrive from 7pm onwards for a 7.30pm start.

Bring some snacks to share, drinks available, and we’ll chat about Shakespeare and explore his life, his works and how to enjoy reading and interpreting his plays.
Bring a friend, or send on this invitation to your Facebook friends list.
All welcome :)
